Why trainers
Handlers work the basics on their own. When they can't get past a skill, the app has them record their sessions and send the evidence to a nearby trainer — summary and clips, straight from their phone to yours.
Loose-lead walking, recall, calm greeting, neutral check-in, emergency U-turn — each a five-step drill with honest YES / NOT YET logging.
One tap shares a session summary plus up to three recent training clips by text or email. You see exactly where they're failing before you ever meet.
You arrive already knowing the dog, the handler, and the sticking point. Short diagnosis, paid session, repeat business in your service area.
Make money
Skjöldr stays free for handlers and cheap for trainers. The income comes from the edges — leads, gear, and local visibility. Here's the plan in plain terms:
List yourself in the directory. When a handler in your area marks a skill "not yet" and decides to call a pro, your profile shows first. You keep 100% of the training fee. We're not taking a cut on the session itself.
Trainers add the leashes, treats, crates, and toys they actually use to a shared product board. EAS wraps each link with an affiliate or fulfillment tag, marks it up a dollar or two, and splits the markup with the trainer. You recommend. We handle the links. You get a few pennies per sale.
Once the network is active, pet stores, vets, groomers, and boarders can place small local ads inside the app targeted by area and dog size. That ad revenue helps keep the app free and pays for the backend.
Trainers who want more visibility can pay a small monthly bump to be the first result in their city. Think of it as a highlighted Yellow Pages listing — not required, just an accelerator.
A free tool that scans shelter pages, lost-pet posts, and social feeds for a missing dog's description. It stays free for the owner, with optional paid "boost" posts to get more eyes in the neighborhood.
Later on, trainers who want their own storefront can run a private back-end under our infrastructure. They choose products, set their prices, and we mark up hosting & transaction fees — a few pennies per sale for us.
Bottom line: the app is free, the community is opt-in, and the money comes from referrals, affiliate gear, and local ads. No handler subscription, no trainer commission on their real work.
