
Regional reporting says Toys “R” Us is making a comeback in the Stockton market, putting a familiar retail name back in front of Central Valley shoppers.
The larger story is the continued experimentation happening in physical retail. National brands that once depended on giant standalone stores increasingly return through smaller formats, partnerships or seasonal concepts.
For local retailers, that is worth watching. Big brands are adapting to the same reality small businesses already know: location, timing and customer experience matter as much as square footage.
