Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives arrested Joshua Rodriguez in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Juan Aranda, nearly three weeks after Aranda was found mortally wounded on an Isabella Avenue street in Keyes.
Aranda was found shot in the 4700 block of Isabella Avenue in Keyes around 11:35 p.m. on August 6.
Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident outside his own home in the 5400 block of Roselena Way.
Homicide. Rodriguez is being held at the Public Safety Center on no-bail status.
Detectives are still investigating the motive. This is an arrest, not a conviction.
How the arrest went down.
According to Sheriff's Office reporting, detectives spent weeks following leads before identifying Rodriguez as a suspect in Aranda's death. Around 4 p.m. on a Monday, detectives served a homicide arrest warrant at a residence in the 5400 block of Roselena Way — backed by the department's SWAT team, drone team, and hostage negotiation team.
Rodriguez was arrested outside his own home without incident.
What happens next.
Rodriguez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on homicide charges and is being held without bail. Detectives interviewed him after the arrest and say the investigation into the shooting and its motive is ongoing.
As with any arrest, the charge is an accusation. It will be tested in court, not in this article.
