Chatham County Approves New Short-Term Rental Rules

Chatham County commissioners approved new short-term rental rules on Sept. 25, capping non-owner-occupied rentals at 5% in designated neighborhoods and ending the county’s moratorium on new applications, Savannah Agenda reported.

The ordinance also tightens occupancy and parking requirements, requires local contacts and allows licenses to be suspended or revoked for repeated violations. Existing licenses and applications filed before Sept. 25 are generally grandfathered from the new cap.

WTOC had reported that the vote was set for 9:30 a.m. in Commission Chambers at 124 Bull St., with a public hearing; questions could be sent to STVR@chathamcounty.org.
